Meet Chaya
For thousands of years, the Maya cultivated a leafy green called Chaya "tree spinach" prized for its nutritional density and deep, savory flavor. A true superfood, Chaya is rich in protein, iron, calcium, and antioxidants. The Maya wove it into daily cooking, we weave it into our snacks.
We source Chaya directly from farming families in Tekax, Yucatán. These families have grown Chaya for generations, intercropping it with corn, beans and squash (the traditional Milpa way of farming).
We love it because of its flavor and nutritional oomph, the farmers love it because it doesn’t require special irrigation or pest control. It's pretty magical stuff.
